Bumbu Bali

A few years ago, my sister and I went on a much-needed holiday to Bali, Indonesia. I didn’t have any special expectations regarding Balinese food and we mostly ate at restaurants which served an unimpressive mix of Balinese and western food. A bit disappointing. Luckily I had heard that one the best restaurants in Indonesia was situated a 10 minutes walk from our hotel. It is was the Bumbu Bali, which means Bali spice and serve only 100%  Balinese food. It´s owned by master chef, prolific author and photographer, Heinz Von Holzen, who also has a cooking school attached to the restaurant. The food is delicious, I can highly recommend the mixed meat saté, they have a good selection of wine, but most of all the service is outstanding. If you going to Bali, it’s really, really worth a visit! We went there three times in 10 days. But remember to make reservations! Prices is a bit above your average Balinese restaurant, but still a bargain compared to europe.
