Clik here to view. The small town Pushkar in Rajasthan is a must see if you´re going to India. The town is situated around a lake, on the border of the Thar desert. The town is a bit more quiet than other indian cities because there’s no cars. I think it’s a great place to spend a few days if you´re in Rajasthan.
I recommend taking the morning train, Shatabdi Express, from New Delhi train station, which is just a five minute walk from Pahar Ganj, to Ajmer and then get a cab or a bus from Ajmer to Pushkar. The train ride from Delhi is really beautiful. I have been to Pushkar quite a few times, and have usually stayed at a guesthouse with lake view. But last time, I found the heavenly Sai Baba Guest House. It’s just down the road on your right, if you are standing in front of the postoffice. Its owned by a french-indian couple. There is a relaxed atmosphere and a big restaurant in the courtyard which makes excellent food. It’s also a good place to stay with kids. I can’t recommend this place enough if you are going to Pushkar and its a little more peaceful than staying in the bazaar.
